Gilan National Orchestra — In Memory of Parviz Meshkatian
A visual identity for Gilan National Orchestra's May 2025 performance in memory of Parviz Meshkatian — a poster centered on Meshkatian himself, alongside a brochure, mix-zone design, and a full Instagram campaign of stories and posts leading up to the concert.
Background
01 — The Assignment
In May 2025, I had an assignment from the Gilan National Orchestra concerning the orchestra's upcoming performance at the Central Hall of Rasht. The Gilan National Orchestra, which was founded in 2019 through a public call and with the structure of a national music orchestra by Mostafa Golshan Masouleh, Morteza Saeedi Rad, Mohammad-Hassan Golshan Masouleh, and Sajed Rezaei, was taking the stage in May 2025 to commemorate Maestro Parviz Meshkatian, with a focus on pieces by Maestro Meshkatian.
The Brief
I had very little time for this project — when the order came in, all the designs for this event had to be prepared in less than ten days and finished to the highest quality, so the event would be properly covered visually. The initial brief I received from the Gilan Orchestra required that an image of Maestro Meshkatian definitely be part of the work, and that the event poster itself lean toward a more artistic direction.

Design Approach
What I did was first listen to the pieces selected for this concert and to the concert performance itself, so that I could get an idea of what the orchestra's overall atmosphere would be like. What kind of overall mood the pieces would create was one of the most important considerations. Based on these observations, I arrived at a general idea: a graphicized image of Maestro Meshkatian, with plectrums repeated in the background attempting to create a rhythm. This repeated motif was an abstract reference to the orchestra and one of its most important elements, rhythm. Alongside that, I used warm colors together with a range of dark reds to bring it closer to the atmosphere of classical music. For the same reason, I chose Nastaliq for the main font, and for the complementary font, I looked for a typeface based on Persian Naskh, but whose expression would appropriately align with the poster's artistic atmosphere.
The Second Poster
After sending the presentation file, although the initial design was well received, there was one request that needed to be incorporated into the poster: using an image of the Gilan National Orchestra in it. Given the time constraints we had, I based the main direction of the design on the poster's title, so I could use it as a motif throughout the rest of the designs — something like an unofficial logo for this event. Alongside it, I used the requested image with a halftone effect. I also needed a graphic element to make the titles stand out more, and instead of using common elements like geometric shapes, I turned to the santur flower — the instrument's decorative rosette — and after rendering it in Illustrator, used it as a graphic element in the design. This was the result: the design for the second poster of this event.
